Role Description

  • Craft and assemble traditional wooden structures and fittings using hand-cut joinery techniques

  • Participate in a wide range of woodworking and construction-related projects

Qualifications

  • A strong leader who can take charge as an OYAKATA (master carpenter on site)

  • Someone skilled in traditional Japanese techniques such as sumitsuke (marking with ink lines) and tegumi (hand-cut joinery), able to carry them out with precision and ease.

  • Applicants with a valid driver’s license.

Role Description

  • Site Planning and Preparation

  • Reviewing architectural drawings and specifications, creating project schedules, and preparing necessary permit applications and related documents.

  • On-site Progress Management

  • Managing and coordinating the progress of each construction phase, holding meetings with craftsmen and partner companies, ensuring safety and quality control, and addressing weather conditions or unforeseen changes.

  • Quality and Safety Management

  • Checking construction accuracy, inspecting the work environment, and ensuring compliance with building standards and legal regulations.

  • Budget Management and Procurement

  • Estimating and managing material and labor costs, ordering supplies and equipment, and adjusting overall project costs.

  • Client Relations

  • Providing site tours and explanations, discussing and coordinating specification changes or additional work, and offering support throughout the project until completion.

Role Description

  • Designing Wooden Architecture in Harmony with Nature and the Environment

  • Creating drawings and plans that take into account the natural environment and climate, through close consultations with clients.

  • Coordination of Design, Structure, and Facilities

  • Balancing aesthetic design with structural safety, while coordinating with specialists and carpenters as needed.

  • Material Selection and Proposals

  • Choosing finishes that make use of solid wood and natural materials, and designing the overall comfort of the space.

  • Permit Applications and Administrative Procedures

  • Handling building permit applications and other administrative procedures, including regulatory checks and the preparation of required documents.
